We recently featured the story about Fezco, the North Carolina dog that was dumped in the shelter by his owners for being gay. Well, today we come with good news: the dog has already found his new home.

Fezco made headlines earlier this week after it was abandoned by its owners for trying to mount other male dog. According to the family, the behavior meant that the dog was gay, so they decided to dump him.
After the news circulated the internet, dozens of people signed up to adopt Fezco, and just a day and a half after the story initially broke, Fezco found his new home.

The couple who adopted Fezco is actually a gay couple, and they said that they’ve faced the same ridiculous judgments that the dog did.

“We’ve been subject to that kind of bigotry and ignorance throughout our lives together, and we couldn’t always do anything about it. We looked at each other and said, we can do something about this.
It’s just such a silly reason to turn in a dog. We thought it would make sense for the gay dog to be adopted by a loving gay family.” – Steve Nichols said.

Fesco was renamed to ‘Oscar’, after Oscar Wilde, the poet who was imprisoned for being gay.

Thankfully, Oscar is in much better hands now than he was before, and even though it will take a lot of care to restore him to proper health, we believe he’ll live a happy life.
