Fifteen seasons later and Grey’s Anatomy continues to surprise it’s viewers in the best way possible. To kick off the new “Season of Love,” ABC announced it cast the show’s first gay male surgeon, Dr. Nico Kim, who will be played by Alex Landi.
Landi, who is Korean and Italian and has a handful of acting credits, will have a recurring role on the show starting this fall so get excited right now.
Grey’s Anatomy isn’t new to casting LGBTQ characters–intern Casey (played by trans actor Alex Blue Davis) called himself a “proud trans man” on the show, and two of the show’s main surgeons, played by Sara Ramirez and Jessica Capshaw, were bisexual and lesbian. However, the show has never cast a gay male surgeon.
