Even though we’ve had notable progress in society when it comes to equality and women’s rights, we have to admit that we’ve miserably failed all those women who’ve survived a sexual assault.
Even though we are living in the #MeToo era, assault survivors are still often shamelessly victim-blamed by society, starting from our own President Donald Trump and his favorite: Why didn’t you speak up earlier?
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and in order to honor it, many Twitter users have decided to share their own stories of why they didn’t report their sexual assaults. Even though the stories are rather painful, they paint the picture of our “modern” society.
