Actor Danny Masterson, most famous for his role as Steven Hyde in “That ’70s Show”, has been charged with raping three women in the early 2000s.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, Masterson is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman that he invited in his Hollywood Hills back in 2003. Additionally, he’s accused of raping a 28-year-old woman at the same time, and a 23-year-old woman back in 2001. The news release says that all of the allegations took place in the actor’s Hollywood Hills home.
The 44-year-old actor was arrested by Los Angeles police a few days ago, and he was booked into jail, with a bail set at $3.3 million.
Two other sexual assault cases involving Masterson have been investigated by the LAPD, but the district attorney’s office did not file charges, citing insufficient evidence.
The victims came forward after A&E aired Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath back in March 2017, but a representative for Masterson told BuzzFeed at the time that the allegations were false and had the sole intention “to boost Remini’s ‘anti-Scientology TV series’.
Masterson is a member of the Church of Scientology, which is widely known to be fiercely protective of its members, and it immediately gets defensive against any accusations. The charges that were announced in June 2020 are the first the actor has faced since police began investigating the rape allegations.
