The First Gay Dads In Britain Have Split Up After One Fell For Their Daughter’s Boyfriend

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and Tony Drewitt-Barlow were dubbed as Britain’s first gay fathers back in 1999, when a surrogate gave birth to their twins, Saffron and Aspen.
The two have now split, after one of the partners started dating their daughter’s ex-boyfriend, which happens to be half his age.

Barrie broke off his relationship with Tony and opened up about their new living arrangement, which happens to be a $7.5 million mansion in Florida. The couple was the first gay couple to be named on a birth certificate as parents, and their relationship was one of the most documented ones in Britain’s history.

Barrie and Tony went their separate ways after 32 years of a relationship after Barrie admitted to falling in love with the 25-year-old Scott Hutchison, which happens to be their daughter Saffron’s ex-boyfriend.
According to Barrie, this was not just some “mid-life crisis” moment, and his relationship with Scott “felt right”.

He said that he has fallen in love with Scott, and he has done the same, and even though he feels stupid to have these feelings about someone half his age, he knows that this is the right decision.
He added that even though they haven’t made definite plans, he would like to marry Scott, because “this is the real deal”.

To add to that, he and Tony are both very happy about the way things have turned out, and regardless of the negativity they’ve been receiving regarding their relationship, they will both be there for each other through this difficult time.
